My circumstances:
I am married and we had joint debt of £40k after my illness prevented me from working.

IVA.com reports: Debt Free Direct has contacted this individual via Iva.com to discuss their comments. Debt Free Direct have advised that they have made significant improvements to their customer service to ensure that their clients receive the highest level of service. More recent customer reviews of their service can be found on their website www.debtfreedirect.co.uk/reviews/.

My interaction with the company:
Gosh where do I start? We were sold an IVA without being told about any other solutions, we were never told about their fees until months later, they have failed to respond to contribution related problems in the 2 years we had the IVA, their customer service is disgusting and our IP lied and threatened us.
Why I gave the ratings I did:
They are liars, bullies and there service is beyond rubbish. They have no respect for their customers.
One thing they did - which really impressed me:
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
One thing they did - which I felt could be improved:
EVERYTHING
Other points
We failed our IVA because after 2 years we were getting no where. We disputed their requested monthly contribution before the filed our IVA and for 2 years we barely ate or slept because of their lack of management and customer service. We are dealing with our creditors ourselves.

Comment: After having been with them for more than 5 years I waited a long time to be issued with my certificate but I got no call or written information from them. I then spoke to someone on the phone finally , only to be told I still had another year to pay because I had missed an instalment for one month!! I argued with the very rude lady on the phone that she didnt have the right information then she said she would put me thr

Comment: I used these people too they are cowboys I lost £7,000 to them we had joint debts of £11,000 were never offered any alternative to an IVA and never should have been placed on one I the first place. They do not care about the lives of the people they affect they took the whole lot as fees and no money was ever paid to our creditors even racking up £1.50 per sheet of A4 paper used throughout the case so they could claim the final £2,000 balance. Comment: I used these cowboys and was so sick of them a family member lent me money to get rid of them. I am in the process of making a formal complaint. It took them four months to accept my final offer then took them over three months to issue the completion certificate. Avoid at all costs.

Comment: I use DFD and find their customer service shocking. Their staff make accusations that are not true. Accusing me of failing to review my case in the previous year which is an absolute outrage ! I HATE using this company but unfortunately there is no way to get away from them.

Comment: I am employed by Debt Free Direct, and am sorry you have had a bad experience with your IVA. We have now set up a new dedicated Customer Care Team so every client has a point of contact, and any queries during their IVA are answered promptly, professionally, effectively and with empathy. We also ensure we mention our fees in detail via telephone as well as in writing before the IVA is set up.

Comment: An IVA company will work for the creditors, not the debtor as, for as long as the creditor is happy, the IVA will go ahead and the iva company will get the fees. If you want genuine advice, go to a charity (and check your charity out - DFD run a not for profit debt advice charity using DFD's systems)CCCS are good and there's always CAB

Comment: Debt free direct should be exposed in the media just to help people from getting into their clutches, they do not care about people, and certainly do not give the service expected from a decent company. They do not get back to you when you call them no matter how worrying it is for you.

    Good Points
Very informative with lots of useful information. A lot of reviews on firms that really help understand their customer service and ability. The reviews appear to be genuine as they offer interesting insights. Didn't really use the the map but looks impressive!
    Bad Points
The site is a bit cluttered and sometimes hard to navigate around.
    General Comments
A useful site that is free to use and full of useful information about IVAs. If you are thinking of doing an IVA then this is a must use site.
