| My circumstances: |
| My application was joint. We are both Police Officers living in West Yorkshire. Our Combined debt was over 46k and had a property with no equity to utilise. |
| My interaction with the company: |
| I knew nothing of IVAs before my application, our finances were in a real mess and just surviving each month was becoming almost impossible. Having a baby on the way and full time stressful jobs, but still coming home to threatening debt letters and phone calls, it was time to take control.<br> <br> I spoke to Accuma on the telephone, they understood our situation and looked in to the best plan of action for us, they recommended an IVA. They were efficient and understanding, together we worked out our income and expenditure, they posted me the proposal and after a small change at the creditors meeting the IVA was accepted. |
| Why I gave the ratings I did: |
| I rated them as honestly as I could, my experience with Accuma was / is nothing short of excellent. I would reccommend them to anybody in a similar position. |
| One thing they did - which really impressed me: |
| They took on board the fact we were expecting a baby, and calculated child care costs in with the IVA as of February when my partner was due to go back to work. Effectively we paid more for the first 6 months when we could, and now pay less due to the child care costs included in our expenditure. |

| Other points |
| We are in a 5 year IVA. We understand we have been given a second chance, for us the IVA was a far better option than bankruptcy, which was inevitable had we not contacted Accuma when we did. We pay 40p to the pound, which is a large sum of debt written off, our payments in to the IVA are affordable and realistic and we have learnt a harsh lesson, we wont be using "credit" of any kind again! |
